Halloween Weekend!

Posted by cadbayuc on Oct 27, 2010 in Uncategorized
As Halloween fast approaches, I wanted to keep everyone in the loop about
plans for our exciting festivities for the weekend.

Friday night- OCT 29th, will proceed as follows:

JUNIORS:
(As most of you probably heard, there was an incident on the weekend at
Galey Farms including rowdy teenagers that ended in a police watch and
closing the facility early. Due to this, I believe the owners, as well as
the Police watch, will be much more prepared for this weekend)

I've decided that WEATHER DEPENDING and if some JUNIOR's parents are
willing to escort the younger group, that we will continue to attend
Galey's Farm at 6:30-8:00pm. However, if the weather continues to stay wet
and miserable then we will STAY at the church and play some halloween
games, set up for the Haunted House, and enjoy the warm indoors.

SENIOR TEENS:
We will still be meeting at Galey Farms from 8:30-9:30pm (time flexible)
for CARNEVIL.

SATURDAY OCT 30th:

SET UP PREP for the Haunted Halloween House will be run by the SENIOR
TEENS. Please come ready to decorate and prepare at 4PM. Haunted house
starts for everyone to enjoy at 6pm.

JUNIORS:
Please come ready IN COSTUME at 5:45pm if you are in the first HALF HOUR
slotted time frame (6-6:30pm) for the junior haunted house to begin
scaring at 6pm.

Juniors who will begin during the second shift (6:30-7pm) please be ready
in costume at 6:15pm.

FIRST SHIFT: (6-6:30pm)
Jane- friendly ghost
Kevin-zombie? (up to you)
Lotti-friendly ghost
Eric-concession
Philip-grim reaper
Sam-grim reaper
Annika-headless person

SECOND SHIFT (6:30-7pm)
Ryan-zombie
Riley-sleeping statue
Ben-hidden creature
Christina-zombie ** please bring headless costume for Annika**
Josh-hidden creature
Emily- vampire cheerleader

(IF your name is not on this list, feel free to let me know what time
works best for you, and just show up ready in costume!)

 CONCESSION:
concession will be open from 6-onwards. Seniors will run it from 6-7pm.
Juniors will run it from 7-8pm. Anyone who wants to help out can take over
from there.

DANCE:
SENIOR TEENS will be DJ-ing the dance from 8 onwards.

Awesome! So excited for this- can't wait to see everyone in costume.

Let me know if you have any questions about any of the events.
Thanks!

Posted by cadbayuc on Oct 14, 2010 in Uncategorized
Hello Everyone!

This weekend will be filled with lots of fun fall activities for the
youth! Most of which will be centered around planning the festivities for
the Haunted House that we, as a youth group, will be hosting at the Family
Halloween Dance Saturday October 30th. This will take quite of bit of
preparation in terms of organizing costumes, music, set-design, and
characters that we wish to act out for the Haunted House. Come prepared
with lots of ideas!

The Haunted House will be a group event from the Junior and Senior Teens.
Roles will vary from being a spooky ghosts and other characters, hosting a
Halloween cooking party which will include lots of "brains" (jello and
spaghetti), handing out candy to children, working the concession at the
dance, and much more.

For this weekend, Friday night for the Juniors will include lots of
high-energy games such as:
Sardines
Electricity
"I'm going on a camping trip and I'm going to bring a..."
Snack will be POPCORN

Seniors will be designing our very own PROFILE page for facebook, church
style (aka the bulletin board in our room). So bring a picture of yourself
that you like, some fun facts about yourself and some creativity.
We also have set up a real facebook page for us to communicate about
events and activities so please add yourself to the group on facebook
called "Cadboro Bay Youth Group".
Snack will be Sundaes.

Hello Families!

Just a reminder to those who have youth interested in attending BCYC's

attend an event at Naramata Centre. Shuttles, food, accommodation and
event staffing is all included, though it doesn't come cheap, which is why
applying for Bursaries are very encouraged!

Mask-making for Thanksgiving Sunday Service

Posted by cadbayuc on Oct 3, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hey Everyone!

So tonight Senior Teens has been opened up to a few members of the Junior Youth who are able to participate in the Drama with us for Thanksgiving Sunday. This is an open invitation to those older Junior Youth who are able to attend tonight for the mask-making and are interested in performing for next Sunday’s service.

Please wear clothing that you wouldn’t mind getting a little messy as the process of mask making can get a little crazy! If you have not made a mask before, which I’m sure most of you have, you will have your face covered in vaseline and then strips of adhesive bandage will be placed to make a mold of your face. It is a little uncomfortable but is so worth the cool result!

We will then be rehearsing the tableaux and play a few drama games to get into the creative process. Snack will be provided by the Green family this evening, but sign up still needs to happen for next week!

Looking forward to seeing all of you soon!

Please call me if there are any concerns. 250-818-9578

DONDI Drum-a-thon TONIGHT! 8:30-10:30pm in the lounge.

Posted by cadbayuc on Oct 1, 2010 in Uncategorized
Hey everyone!

So tonight will be the Dondi Drum-a-thon happening in the Lounge room from
8:30-10:30pm (after Junior Youth). Please bring a drum if you have one!
That can be anything from a beautiful djembe drum, to a piece of your drum
kit, to an empty water jug. Anything that can make a beat and contribute
to the cause.

Also, I encourage you to bring some tunes you love to groove to so we can
plug it in to the speakers and jam all together! CDs, Ipod playlists, or
even a radio station you like that we can use (please keep it appropriate
please).

You can also bring along other instruments if you so please. I'm thinking
more along the lines of harmonicas and tambourines, but feel free to bring
a guitar or other ones if you choose!

Snack will be provided for us but it will be a very active evening so make
sure to eat some dinner before you arrive.

There will be lots of games and activities throughout the evening! I hope
you all can make it out and support a great cause.

See you guys soon!

Senior Teens Sept 19th

Posted by cadbayuc on Sep 18, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hey Senior Teen Folks,

There is painting of the Youth Room happening at the moment so depending on the situation for church tomorrow we might have our Youth Group in a different room or outside. The plan from 7-9pm will involve some super fun activities such as rocking chairs and roller coasters, the oreo challenge, and making our convenant to each other as a group. There are many things coming up in the next fall months that we will be involved in such as you-tubing and participating in the drum-a-thon, participating in a drama for Thanksgiving and preparing the Haunted House for Halloween! Planning for this will also start tomorrow night in order to make them as fantastic as possible! Hope to see you there :)
